You can help!
Chelsea's best chance lies in awareness, the more people that know, the more opportunity we have to find her a donor. Local news stations in your area, national news shows, daytime talk shows like Ellen, The View, and Oprah, anywhere and everywhere you can think of that has an audience, would be worth a try. We've created a letter that you can copy and paste into your email, there is power in numbers, so the more of you that take a few minutes to send it out, the better our chances for a response. Send it multible times, to multible places. Won't you Please help us spread the word, imagine if it were your letter that set events in motion to save Chelsea's life. How many of us can say we helped to save a life?
Dear ___________
Please allow me to take a few minutes of your valuable time to tell you about Chelsea Lingenfelter. When she was four years old, Chelsea was diagnosed with Hepatocellular Carcinoma (adult liver cancer). Since then she has been fighting to make the most of her time. Everyday, she struggles to do the things you and I take for granted, it hasn‘t been easy.
At the age of seven, she underwent a partial transplant from her mother, at the time, the Doctors thought that this would last about seven years. It's now been fourteen years, she is in stage 4 liver failure, and her kidneys are starting to fail from the strain. She requires dialysis until a new liver can be found.
This beautiful, vibrant, twenty-one year old is presently confined to the Intensive Care Unit of the Cleveland Clinic, waiting for a miracle. She needs a donor and she needs one fast. While the subject of Organ Donation can be a difficult one in any circumstance, Chelsea’s is made even more so, by the fact that all of the years of medical treatments have caused her to be small in stature, so the ideal candidate will need to be a child or small adult with Type O-negative blood type.
It's a tall order, as you can imagine, but I know ,“WE CAN MAKE IT HAPPEN!” Organ Donation is giving the gift of life. Please share Chelsea's video & webpage with as many people as possible, and spread the word. If you would tell Chelsea’s story, we could reach thousands of people we wouldn’t have been able to otherwise. Please ask them, “Do you have someone in your life who wishes, or that you wish to live on through organ donation?” Tell them to PLEASE contact The Cleveland Clinic, in Cleveland, OH at (304) 914-8227 to donate a liver directly to Chelsea Lingenfelter. Time is of the essence. For more information, please visit Chelsea's page at: http://aliverforchelsea.weebly.com/index.html
Thank you for your help and God Bless!
